Basic Eligibility
- Must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) (or 35 years old for some countries).
- Must have a passport from an eligible country.
- Must not be accompanied by dependant children.

First Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip. You must:
- Have a passport from an eligible country.
- Apply from outside Australia.
- Not be accompanied by dependant children.
- Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or 417 visa.
With This Visa You Can
- Do short-term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday.
- Study for up to 4 months.
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
- Do 3 months of specified subclass 462 work to become eligible for a second Work and Holiday visa.
Overview
12 months. This is a temporary visa. You can’t stay longer in Australia by extending this visa. You could apply for a second Work and Holiday visa if you’re eligible.

- You must have at least Functional English.
- Have a letter of support.
- You must have enough money to:
- Support yourself while you are in Australia.
- Leave Australia at the end of your stay.
- Meet the health requirement.
- Meet the character requirement.
- If you or any family members (including those who don’t apply for the visa with you) owe the Australian government money, you or they must have paid it back or arranged to pay it back.
- Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused.
- You must acknowledge the Australian Values Statement that confirms you will respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws when you apply for the visa.
The following condition(s) must be attached to this visa:
8547- Not work for one employer for more than 6 months.
8548- Maximum 4 months study.
Second Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a Work and Holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia. You must:
- Have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work.
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago.
With This Visa You Can
- Do short-term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday.
- Study for up to 4 months.
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
- Do 3 months of specified subclass 462 work to become eligible for a second Work and Holiday visa.

Generally 12 months, however, this depends on your circumstances when the visa is granted.
If you are in Australia on your first subclass 462 visa or a bridging visa:
- You can stay in Australia for 12 months from the date your first Work and Holiday visa expired or would have expired.
- The bridging visa must be the one you were granted after your first subclass 462 visa expired.
If you are in Australia on a different visa:
- You can stay in Australia for 12 months from the date your visa is granted.
If you are outside Australia:
- You can stay in Australia for 12 months from the date you enter Australia.
- You must enter Australia within 12 months of the date your visa is granted.

Third Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a second Work and Holiday visa, have a third working holiday in Australia. You must:
- Have previously held 2 subclass 462 visas in Australia.
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago.
- Have undertaken 6 months of specified subclass 462 work.
With This Visa You Can
- Do short-term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday.
- Study for up to 4 months.
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.

If you are in Australia on your second subclass 462 visa or a bridging visa:
- You can stay in Australia for 12 months from the date your second Work and Holiday visa expired or would have expired.

First Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) (or 35 years old for some countries) have their first extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip. You must:

- Apply online from outside Australia.
- Not be accompanied by dependant children.
- Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 417 or 462 visa.

- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want.
- Do 3 months of specified work to become eligible for a second Working Holiday Visa.
